Trailer Talk: Spider-Man: Far From Home

Well I guess Spider-Man is coming back in Endgame. I'm just messing around. The idea that the Marvel machine would stop making movies or abandon Spider-Man after Homecoming made a bunch of money is silly and not really how comic universes work. People live, people die, people come back let's see Spidey fight giant water dudes!

The Skinny

Fresh off of Endgame, Peter Parker is hoping to enjoy a trip abroad with his friends and take some time away from superhero duty. But when Nick Fury and some beings called the Elementals show up, Peter will have to suit up and team-up with Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) to save the day.

What Stands Out

Mysterio = Good Guy?

For most comic fans this is going to sound like a trick because Mysterio is a villain. A pretty dangerous one when given the chance too. So the first thing I thought of, which I hope isn't the case, is....is he in on it? Like is Mysterio pulling the strings behind this attack to make himself famous or something? I hope that's not the case but I won't be surprised.

All of that aside I love that Jake Gyllenhaal is involved in this movie and his costume design is perfect.

New Suit!

Since he left his Tony Stark suit at home it looks like Spidey has a red and black suit, which is fitting if Nick Fury's group made it, complete with web wings. I don't know if there's any new tech, but I'm hoping so.

High School Stuff

I'm hoping the school trip aspect of the film takes advantage of this talented young cast. The early results look great. Zendaya is maintaining her sarcastic, but likely interested in Peter, MJ. Jacob Batalon looks primed for Oracle duty. And the Tony Revolori joke at the end is both perfect Flash Thompson and well-delivered. Can't wait.

Hype Level: 8/10

Provided his resurrection isn't awful, I really wish this trailer came out after Endgame, Far From Home looks like more Spidey fun in a string of great Spidey fun.
