The John Wick series has become a cult hit among R-rated action fans thanks in part to stylish gun-fu, slick cinematography, and solid world-building in movies about shooting people. So the hype level was already high for this one, even before the trailer.....time to bury the needle.
The Skinny
After offing a member of the high council our favorite assassin and his dog are on the run with a $14 million bounty on his head. To survive and escape he'll have to reconnect with old allies and prepare for an onslaught of goons looking to collect.
What Stands Out
Teamwork!
John has mostly been a lone wolf in this series. He's had help, but never someone by his side ready to ride or die. So the possibility of Halle Berry joining with her own weapons and an attack dog to join the fun has me curious. I'm also interested to see how Ian McShane and Laurence Fishburne play into the end result (they seem to like him), but we shall see.
More of What We Love
Damn this movie looks good. It looks like they're doubling down on the neon nightmare aspect of the last film with more of the slick gunplay and fist fights. It also looks like we're gonna see John gun down people on horseback and use katanna's to cut through people on motorcycles so I'm beyond sold.
How Does John Get Out of This?
I'm really curious about John's options for getting out. Does he have to kill the all of the High Council? Is there a magical get out of jail free card? Can he actually survive? What will happen if he does? These are fun questions I can't wait to get answers for.
Hyper Level: Overdrive 9/10
Sometimes more of the same with a twist is all you need. Can't wait for this.
